Boiled Chestnuts

Peel the chestnuts off with a sharp knife, rinse them, and put them to boil (with cover) on slow heat for about 45 minutes to one hour. Try one to check the consistency, which should be soft.

Note that chestnuts can also be roasted within their cork in the oven or over glowing ambers in the fireplace. It is tasty, but drier.
